Knights Against the Knight Part 58

They ran.

Chester cursing all the while.

Blue dragging them out of the way when Shadows chased by.

The dim light of Chester's sword the only thing to see by.

Freddie still clasped Bolt's sword.

Blue's had long since shattered in the dark.

The monsters had nothing to fear from their raggity band.

Freddie was not to be deterred, forcing his way boldly on.

"We won't escape." Blue whispered.

Chester glared at him. "We haven't lost hope yet."

Freddie didn't say a word, his hand wrapping around Blue's arm.

Blue tossed Freddie a defeated, hopeless look.

"You can't trust me."

Chester laughed, "No. Can't trust any of us monster. Been in the dark too long."

Freddie tilted his head consideringly.

"Dark is not evil." The boy said quietly.

Bolt snorted, "The dark has more often been turned to evil purposes than light."

Nightmares rode over head.

Freddie watched them pass silently.

"Why don't they attack?" Freddie asked.

The rabbit and bear glanced questioningly to Blue.

He was the only one who could answer.

"We are already lost to the dark. It is only a matter of time."

Freddie laughed.

"I am not afraid of the dark."

Blue turned to stare at him, "You should be."

Freddie smiled sadly, "Maybe."

"Leave it monster." Chester hissed.

"No. It's fine." Freddie said, patting the rabiit's ears.

Bolt sighed, "Why did you come after me? You should have left me in the dark."

"You are mine." Freddie said.

Bolt glared "That is not a good reason!"

"I thought..."
