Mad at Mouse Part 64

It had been a year.

A very strange year by most accounts, but Ferb had taken most of it in stride.

He still had the heart.

Destiny’s last hope.

It had grown. Sometimes he wondered if he should do something with it, it had been entrusted to him, but it seemed so small, so young.

Destiny had said he would know, that all he had to do was listen, and the heart would tell him.

He had listened.

The heart had asked to come here.

Tomorrow would have the celebrations, the feasts and parties and all those sort of things.

Today was quiet, they were still in mourning. Would probably mourn a long time.

Phineas stood beside him, Candace behind, and the Queen, Minnie she said to call her, stood on the other side of the monument.

Phineas chatted away, words always came easily to his brother. Phineas had grown in the past year, they all had.

“Bye Perry...” Phineas said, touching the diamond.

It flashed.

“Um...” Phineas looked over to him, “Did you see that Ferb?”

Ferb nodded, and reached out to touch the diamond. It was warm.

“Your majesty?” Candace called out, “I think...”

Minnie darted around the diamond. “Oh dear!” She exclaimed, “Is there...” She glanced at the boys’ hands, and the pulsing light seeping into the crystal.

“Mickey!” She gasped, and placed a hand on the crystal, the light and warmth growing in strength.

The light pulsed, faster and faster.

Please...” Someone said in a whisper.

The little heart flew out of Ferb’s pocket, whirling around the diamond before zipping inside.

The diamond shattered.

The two trapped within fell to their knees, taking hesitant breaths.

“We’re alive?” Mickey asked breathlessly.

“Mickey!” Minnie gloomped him, bestowing kisses and tears in equal measure.

Perry chirped hopefully in the boys, his boys direction.

“Perry!” Phineas swept him up and whirled him around, “We’ve missed you Perry.”

Fin.
