Freddie was terrified, His mother rushed in, and spent her
time trying to calm Freddie down. Rocking, singing, trying to get him to tell
her what had frightened him. "Just a nightmare honey, just a
nightmare."
It wasn't just a nightmare.
She gathered up Bolt and Chester, her warmth was welcomed
after the pain of the dark, the chill had set in.
She was soft and gentle, and didn't notice anything wrong
with Chester.
Bolt worried.
It was a long time until sunrise.
She sang, tucking both the Ted units in beside Freddie. The
lullaby was a silly little tune, and for once Bolt was thankful for her presence.
The Monster was gone.
Freddie slowly fell back to sleep, his face tear strained.
Bolt was extremely aware of the chill of Chester beside him.
"Be safe little one, I'm here."
"I want Mags." Freddie muttered, and Bolt was
watching her face, the sudden pain made her flinch back, tears filling her
eyes.
"So do I." She said. She curled her hand around
Chester, "So do I."
Freddie gave up the fight, slipping away into sleep.
She waited, watching her child sleep.
She didn't let go of Chester.
Bolt slipped away before she left, exhausted by the fight.
