Mad at Mouse Part 34

The small group emerged in a courtyard of a sandy city, Destiny managed two steps before falling face first in a sand dune.

The city was deserted, most of the doorways were half buried in sand, and the city was almost deathly silent except for the wind.

“Where are we?” Doofenschmirtz asked, slowly turning, “This doesn’t look like anyplace I know.”

Perry wiggled out of Destiny’s grip, thankful to be out of the in-between place, it had been doing strange things to his thoughts. He wondered if Doofenschmirtz had noticed.

“Lash don wizard.” Destiny mumbled, and pushed herself onto her back. “Puppets.” She bit out harshly, sitting up only to drop her head into her hands.

Doofenschmirtz glanced back. “Are you serious? Cause I know nonsense and that sounds like complete and utter baloney.”

Destiny gestured, a come here motion. Doofenschmirtz frowned, “Alright...” he approached cautiously. Destiny grabbed for his lab coat and missed, but tried again with a growl and got a handful of white material.

“Basin owl boomed.” She snarled, “Silver.” It sounded like a curse, and she took a deep breath and fell forward against Doofenschmirtz.

Doofenschmirtz glanced at Perry while patting the smaller woman on her back. “There there.” He recited in rout monotone.

Perry mined hitting his head and shaking something hard.

“Oh...” Doofenschmirtz said. “Concussion?” He asked and Perry gave him a thumb up and nodded.

“Well, we had better...” Doofenschmirtz stopped, looked around again. “Where are we?”

Perry opened his communicator and showed the blank screen to Doofenschmirtz. He frowned reaching for his phone, and carefully handling around Destiny to be able to check it.

“No signal. We’ll that’s great. Worthless machine. Don’t they have satellites everywhere now a days?”

Perry shrugged and pointed to the sky. The sun was setting, but it wasn’t quite dark yet. That wasn’t what Perry was pointing to.

There were two moons in the sky.

“Huh. Did someone install a new moon while I was busy?” Doofenschmirtz asked, and Perry face palmed.

“Or did we teleport to a different World?” Doofenschmirtz continued, as Perry sighed and nodded. He pointed towards one of the houses, again towards the sky, then shivered.

Doofenschmirtz blinked and considered, he was getting good at translating what Perry meant. “We’re in a desert. Deserts get cold at night. You think we should go inside? Is that it Perry?”

Perry nodded and darted over to a house that wasn’t quite as buried in sand as the others and started digging out the doorway.

Doofenschmirtz looked back up at the sky. “Don’t worry Vanessa. I will be back in time for your Birthday.”
